Many of their neighbors who do not have such coverage may be forced by the government to buy some when new Federal Emergency Management Agency's maps are released next month.

November is Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome Awareness Month. Streator's Awareness Day was Monday, Nov. 9. Pictured with state Sen. Gary Dahl, R-Granville, is Bea Danko of Streator, who suffers from the condition. Dahl assisted in advancing legislation for awareness at the request of Danko. Included in the legislation is that returning veterans suffering from RSD from wounds incurred would receive disability compensation. "Bea deserves enormous credit in moving this bill forward," Dahl said. "When similar legislation I sponsored last year got bogged down due to political games, she kept the pressure on lawmakers to do the right thing. It was an honor to work with her in getting this legislation passed and signed into law." Danko is advocating for legislation in other states as well. To make a contribution, make checks payable to RSDSA and send to Bea Danko at 1506 S. Vermillion St., Streator, IL 61364.
