Problems Reading the News on the Web?
Subscribers
Access to the news on the web is normally restricted to only users who are dialed up and connected through an account with MyWebTimes. If you are connected to the internet through a different service provider then you will be denied access to that section of the web site. If you wish to know more about creating an account to read the news, visit our Reading the News Section or our Registration Page.
Problems with Accepting Username Password
If you are attempting to log in and it is not accepting your log in and password, a few different things can cause this.
1. If you are using America Online, skip down to the AOL Information section.
2. If you use MyWebTimes to connect to your WebTV, the WebTV device will make your connection appear as if it is not a MyWebTimes customer and our server will not recognize you. In order to read the news, you can contact our office and we will set up your name and password in our news server.
3.Make sure you are either dialed in to MyWebTimes or have a valid web news account.
4. Make sure you have a paid up account. If you do not renew MyWebTimes, The Times newspaper, or your Web News Subscription, your account will be terminated.
5. Make sure you are entering the correct name and password. These will have no spaces or symbols and do not include your E-mail address or "@somewhere.com" after your login name.
6. Make sure your Caps Lock is off and that you are typing everything in lower case. Names and passwords are case sensitive.
If you have forgotten your username or password, you can e-mail to support@MyWebTimes.com with your name, address, telephone number, and e-mail address and we will provide the log on information to you as quickly as possible.
We have discovered that password authentication doesn't work in some
versions of the AOL browser. What this means is that some users will be
given "Authorization required (401)" messages before they are given a chance
to enter their usernames and passwords. Other users may not be given a
login box at all. In either case, this causes inconvenience to the user.
After talking with AOL, we recommend the following:
