Changes for connecting to the internet - 5.February.07
Due to state regulations imposing a mandatory change to the phone systems, all calls within the 815 area code will soon require using 1 plus 10 digit dialing. While this change should not affect the Internet connection service we provide to all of our customers, it will affect how our customers connect to MyWebTimes (Internet Ottawa and TimesPress.net).
As of February 17, 2007 all customers will need to add the 1-815 area code to their connection settings on their computer. For WindowsXP users, this is as simple as clicking on Start and Connect To and then selecting your connection. When the new window appears, at the bottom will be a place to change the phone number. Simply add the 1-815 before the phone number and then connect. For customers using other systems, you will need to open up your dial up connection and click the Settings button to change the phone number. Customers calling Ottawa as a local call will now need to dial 1-815-433-9000 and customers calling Streator will dial 1-815-673-4011. Please keep in mind these changes do not need to be made until the 17th of February.
If you have troubles changing the settings and would like to speak with customer service, please feel free to call us at 1-815-433-9700 in Ottawa or 1-815-673-4014 in Streator.
