To the Editor:

I don't know why Marquette High School sponsored the beauty contest, nor do I know why The Times chose to make it a front-page story. The description of one of the male students being known as "bootylicious" was vulgar. The secular high schools in the area have, it seems, better moral discretion and higher standards. The message board located in front of St. Columba Church is devoted to sports and raffles I do applaud those churches who put the gospel on display. Really, shouldn't that be the mission of the church?
