A rural Streator woman, who previously served prison time for identity theft, has been arrested by Livingston County Sheriff authorities on new criminal charges.
Print this storyLindsay K. Essman, 26, 6257 190 E 3000 Road, was arrested this past weekend on a fraud charge and a failure to appear warrant for misuse of a credit card. She was taken Sunday to La Salle County Jail. She was placed under $24,000 bond and needs 10 percent cash, or $2,400, to be released from custody. In February 2008, Circuit Judge H. Chris Ryan Jr. sentenced Essman to three years in prison for two counts of identity theft following a guilty plea. She could have been sentenced to many more years in prison for those charges. Essman was living with a husband and wife in 2006 in Ottawa when she used their personal information to obtain a number of credit cards, with which she charged about $37,000, according to Ottawa police at the time. The illegal charges were made for small items and daily living expenses. She was on probation for a 2005 forgery conviction when arrested on those charges. |
