Marc Miller, Illinois Department of Natural Resources director, joined rock star Ted Nugent and his film crew for the first hunt of the season near Starved Rock State Park.

The hunt is being filmed for a promotion of "Hunting in Illinois" and will air on Nugent's "Spirit of the Wild" program on The Outdoor Channel, which airs at 1:30 and 7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and noon on Saturdays. Spirit of the Wild may also be viewed online at outdoorchannel.com.

Joining the hunt was State Rep. Brandon Phelps, of Harrisburg. Phelps is the chairman of the Agriculture and Conservation Committee of the Illinois House of Representatives and, like Miller, an avid hunter and outdoorsman.

Phelps and Miller spent the day prior to the hunt familiarizing themselves with the trails of Starved Rock, where they hiked to French Canyon and stopped at the Visitor Center in the park. They were met at the Lodge by state Rep. Frank Mautino, D-Spring Valley.
