To the Editor:

The Ottawa area is blessed with great teachers, administrators and dedicated and committed board members. The area churches, prayer groups, pastors, Christian leaders and community have been, and will continue to pray for resolution to end the strike as soon as possible. We pray for compassion, forgiveness and understanding for everyone affected by the strike. We also pray for all affected by the loss of Mr. Harrison.

We take no sides but wish to express our love for all and hope and pray that God"s wisdom and knowledge will fill the hearts and minds of all involved in the negotiations. We want you to know, regardless of your position, that we love you and respect your feelings, and pray that when this is resolved, all parties will embrace the agreement, and not harbor any animosity or resentment. We ask

that everyone in the community be supportive and not judgmental of the negotiators as well as the feelings of our neighbors and friends.

Let us be reminded of the inspiring words of Abraham Lincoln on Sept. 4, 1864:

"I am much indebted to the good Christian people of the country for their constant prayers and consolations; and to no one of them, more than to yourself."

If anyone needs to talk, share their frustrations, concerns, anger or emotions we strongly urge you to reach out to your churches, pastors or church leaders.

DOUG WILLET
