An 18-year-old man from a Chicago suburb reported missing Tuesday night apparently burned himself to death in Ophir Township.
Print this storyA 9:20 a.m. Wednesday, the La Salle County Sheriff's Office received a call reporting a body found in an area near a small creek in Ophir Township. Deputies found a black Jeep Cherokee in a field entrance and the deceased body of Brandon R. Kleinvehn of South Barrington just a short distance away, according to a press release from the sheriff's office. A witness told authorities he had seen the Jeep parked at that spot at approximately 8 p.m. Tuesday, but did not see anyone around the vehicle. Evidence at the scene indicated Kleinvehn died as a result of a self-initiated fire. A missing person investigation had been started by the South Barrington Police Department Tuesday. An autopsy was scheduled for today. The investigation is being conducted by the sheriff's office, La Salle County Coroner's Office, Illinois State Police Crime Scene Investigation Unit and the State Fire Marshal's Office. |
