An employee of Prestress Engineering Corporation in rural Blackstone was killed in an incident at the plant Tuesday morning.

The employee, Robert L. Fanchi, 40, of Pontiac, was pronounced dead at 11:11 a.m. Tuesday by a Livingston County deputy coroner. An autopsy has been scheduled and an inquest will be held at a later date, Livingston County Coroner Michael Burke said.

Burke said no further information will be released until after the inquest. A Prestress Engineering Corporation spokeswoman said the company is not commenting on the incident because it remains under investigation.

The Livingston County Sheriff's Department, the Illinois State Police Division of Crime Scene Services, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and the Livingston County Coroner's Office are investigating the incident, Burke said.

Prestress Engineering Corporation manufactures precast and prestressed concrete bridge and building components and precast sound barriers.
