A 256-page book hardcover book, containing hundreds of photographs of long-ago Ottawa, is hitting local bookstores.
Print this storyThe photos, which stretch from the Civil War era to the 1980s, were compiled by Bob Jordan of Ottawa and Jim Ridings of Hersher. The book is titled, "Old Ottawa Scenes." The editors described the book as a publication for "those who live in Ottawa or once did." As examples, photographs show the boulder being placed in 1908 on the east side of Washington Square and demolition in 1982 of the Hilliard Bridge over the Illinois River. Money generated by sales of the book go to the Ottawa-based La Salle County Genealogy Guild. Jordan is set to sign copies of the book 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday at the Book Mouse, 820 La Salle St., and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 11 at Reddick Library. danc@mywebtimes.com (815) 431-4050
